1 c. shortening
2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. broken pecans
2 c. candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs well. Stir in buttermilk. Blend dry ingredients; stir into mixture. Stir in pecans and fruit. Chill for 1 hour. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on a lightly greased sheet. Place pecan half on each cookie. Bake at 400 for 8 - 10 minutes.
