cup shortening
1 cup sugar
cup light molasses
1 egg
2 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
tsp cloves
tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening in a saucepan over low heat, let cool, add sugar, eggs. Beat. Sift dry ingredients, add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Chill. Form into small balls. Roll in sugar and bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes.
