Protect your fingernail when gardening by scratching soap under them. This will keep the dirt out, and can easily be removed with a nail brush and hot water.

To clean your jewerly use a little soap on a soft brush that you have dipped in amonia and water. After washing in the solution, rinse in cold water, dry on a old handkerchief, and rub with a chamois skin.
