2 bunches red or green leaf lettuce, washed and torn into small pieces.
4 boiled eggs, sliced
6-8 pieces of bacon, fried crisp and crumbled (reserve grease)
1 small onion, sliced very thin

Dressing:
2 tbsp. bacon grease
5 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. brown sugar
3 tbsp. water
Pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Tear the lettuce in small pieces and place in a pan with a lid that fits well. Add the rest of the ingredients in layers and press down in pan. Bring the dressing ingredients to a full boil. Pour over the lettuce mixture and cover immediately. Let stand for 15 minutes. Mix well and serve.
