1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 cup milk

Caramel Sauce:
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
First: combine sauce in large pot with a lid : butter, sugar, and water - let come to a boil.

Dumplings: Sift together dry ingredients and cut in 1/4 cup butter; add milk and vanilla. Mix quickly and drop by tsp. into boiling caramel sauce. Cover an cook slowly for 20 minutes. Do not lift cover during cooking!

Serve hot with vanilla ice cream
