1 cup milk
1/2 cup lard
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
2-1/4 cups cake flour, sifted
3 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cup sugar
3 egg whites

Directions:
Directions:
Add to the lard 2 tablespoons milk, vanilla and almond extract. Whip until light and fluffy, or about 2 minutes with a mixture set at medium. After the dry ingredients are sifted together add them to the lard mixture with 2/3 of the milk. Beat until smooth with the mixer. Add rest of the milk and unbeaten egg whites. Beat until smooth. Pour into two greased and floured 8-inch round pans. Bake at 350 for 27 minutes.
