1/2 c. warm water
1/2 tsp. sugar
2 yeast cakes
1 1/2 c. warm milk, scalded
2 T. melted butter
3 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve together the 1/2 cup water, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and yeast. Add the butter, 3 teaspoons of sugar, salt, and 1/4 cup water to the milk and cool slightly, then add to the yeast mixture. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Let stand for 5 minutes. Knead slightly and roll out thick on a floured board. Let set to rise another 3-5 minutes. Cut in rectangles and fry in deep fat turning once. Also makes quick bread. Double and bake at 400 for 40 minutes.
