1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand about 20 minutes. Mix shortening, white sugar, brown sugar, eggs, baking soda, flour and salt together, then add oatmeal mixture. Bake in a 9"x13" pan at 350 degrees until done.

Frosting: Melt butter, add brown sugar and milk. Boil 2 minutes over low heat. Add vanilla, powdered sugar, and beat. Spread on bars.
