1 c sugar, 1/4 c butter, a 1/4 c flour, 1 egg, 1 can tart cherries(drained) save juice, 1 tsp soda, pinch salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter. Add beaten egg and 2 T flour. Then cherries in which you have dissolved soda. Add rest of flour and salt and nuts if you want. by hand. Bake 8" cake pan 350 25-30 min...sometimes a bit longer. Sauce: 2/3 c sugar, cherry juice plus water to make 1 c, 1 T corn starch. Stir till thickens over heat. Serve over cake with cool whip.
