3 cups water
1 T. sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup molasses
1 T. salt
2 T. shortening
2 pkg. yeast
4 cups rye flour
6 cups white flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together water, 1 T. sugar, brown sugar, molasses, salt and shortening. Heat until lukewarm, add yeast. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir in rye flour and enough white flour (about 6 cups) to make a soft dough. Dough should be easy to handle and should not stick to hands. Knead dough for a few minutes. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Divide dough into four parts. Knead each part separately and shape into four loaves. Let rise in greased loaf pan until double. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until brown.
