6 stale 4" tortillas
1/2 cup salad oil
2 quarts chicken or meat stock (canned)
1 onion chopped
1/2 cup tomato puree
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
grated cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Cut tortillas into 1/4" strips. Fry in hot oil on both sides to crisp and brown lightly. Drain on paper towels. Keep warm. Heat stock with onions. Simmer till onions are tender. Add tomato puree. Simmer for 5 minutes longer. Add cilantro. Put tortilla strips in bottom of soup bowls. Pour hot broth over tortilla strips and serve with grated cheese.
