3/4 c butter (not margarine)
1/4 c sugar
2 c flour
1 t almond flavoring
1 egg white, slightly beaten
1 T sugar
1/3 c blanched almonds, finely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, add 1/4 c sugar and cream thoroughly. Add the flour gradually. Work it in thoroughly with the hand. Blend in the flavoring, working it in with the hand until the mixture is creamy and pliable. Chill dough, if desired, to make it easier to handle. Roll out 1/4" thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board. Cut into 2 x 3/4" strips. Brush tops lightly with the slightly beaten egg white. Then sprinkle the sugar and nuts (mixed together) lightly over the egg white. Carefully transfer each strip to an ungreased baking sheet. Bake just until cookies begin to turn a delicate golden color (15-20 min) at 350.
