2 pounds ground beef or turkey
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1 cup raisins
small jar pimentos
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 medium apples, peeled and chopped
2 can (10 oz. each) diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Directions:
Directions:
Cook beef (or turkey) and onion in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown;drain.

Mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients except almonds in 3 1/2 to 6 - quart slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low heat setting 3 to 4 hours or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir in almonds.

If you don't have a slow cooker (also known as a crock pot), this dish can be cooked in a large pan. Just heat on low and simmer until the apples are soft.
