BEAT:1/2 cup shortening,1/2 cup white sugar, 1/4 firmly packed brown sugar, 1 egg and 1 teasponns vanilla until light and fluffy.

ADD: 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt. Blend well.

STIR: in 1/2 package of chocolate chips

DROP: from teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheet.

Bake 375 for 8 to 10 minutes.
