1 c. butter
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour to which is added 2 tsp. baking powder & 1/2 tsp. salt
4 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter and sugar. Add one egg at a time, mixing after each. Add flour and milk alternately, a small amount of each at a time. Bake at 350 . This can be baked in a tube, bundt, layer, or flat cake pan. The time varies as to which pan. The tube or bundt should be checked in an hour, the flat cake pan in 20 to 30 minutes.

This is a recipe that most ladies in Montford Cove used back when they cooked in wood stoves. This was Grandmother Effie Queen Parker Hemphill's (George H.'s wife) recipe.
