1 c. creamed-style canned corn
1/2 c. milk
1 beaten egg
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 heaping tsp. baking powder

Mix all ingredients together in the order given and fry by spoonfuls in deep fat.

Another family favorite. This one came from Grandmother Dorian, who lived with us while my brother and I were growing up. Linguistic note: The version of this recipe in my mother's handwriting calls for dropping "spoonsful" of batter into deep fat, but I've written "spoonfuls". Recipe language has changed in the space of a generation!
