"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
4 Cups Flour
1 tsp Soda
1 c butter
2 Eggs
1 tsp Salt
1-1/2 Cups Sugar
4 Tbsp Milk
1 tsp Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, soda and butter set aside.

Beat eggs, salt, sugar, milk and vanilla together. Add to the first mixture.

Form into 2 balls and cover in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours prior to rolling dough out to cut shapes. (Leave second roll in fridge until ready to roll out).

I use powdered sugar on my counter top and rolling pin to avoid it sticking.

Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.
I like this recipe because the cookies retain their shape when baking.

Personal Notes:
Lake and Kyle have made these cookies with me every Christmas since they were about 2 years old. I couldn't believe how they would stay until the last one was decorated. What a great memory!
