3/4 c. shortening
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs, well beaten
1 T. milk
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine salt, spices, shortening, and blend. Add brown sugar gradually and cream well. Add beaten eggs and milk and mix well. Sift flour and baking soda together and add to first mixture. Add raisins and nuts, blending well. Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with glass covered with damp cloth. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes.
