Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

3 C All Purpose flour
3 C sugar
1/2 C Hersey's cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 C Crisco
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 C sweet milk
6 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt


1 1/2 C sugar
1/3 C water
pinch of salt
2 tsp. white Karo syrup
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a tube pan.

Measure and sift together dry ingredients, set aside..
Cream together butter, Crisco and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
Add dry ingredients altering with milk, one-third at a time. Add vanilla and beat.
Pour into pan and bake for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Miracle Icing:

Combine all but egg whites and vanilla into a sauce pan.
Bring to a boil over high heat. Cook 3 minutes. Beat egg whites with a mixer.
Turn mixer to high and add syrup mixture. Beat for 5 minutes. Pour over cake.
