3 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 cup margarine or shortening
5 eggs
3 cups AP flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup cocoa
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Chocolate Buttercream Icing:
1 box 4xxx confectioner's sugar, sifted
1 stick margarine
3/4 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
evaporated milk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa

Cream butter, shortening and sugar well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa together and add to first mixture, alternating with milk. Add vanilla.

Bake at 350 in desired size pans about 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Cream sugar, margarine, cocoa, shortening, vanilla. Add enough milk to make the icing spreading consistency. Keep bowl covered with camp cloth while icing cake.
