1/2 Pound Butter
1/2 Cup Shortening
5 Eggs
3 Cups Flour
3 Cups Sugar
5 Heaping Tablespoons Cocoa
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

CHOCOLATE ICING (for Chocolate Pound Cake)
1/4 Cup Milk, Scalded
3 Squares Chocolate
1/2 Stick Margarine
1 Box Powdered Sugar (10X)
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

Melt chocolate and margarine. Add a little scalded milk. Put sugar in bowl and pour chocolate in center. Start mixer. Add remaining milk until icing is of spreading consistence. Add vanilla. Frost cool cake.

Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Add dry ingredients, alternating with milk (1/3 dry,1/2 milk,1/3 dry,1/2 milk,1/3 dry).
Mix thoroughly.
Add vanilla.
Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees in a greased and floured pound cake pan.
