1 cup Cornmeal - white or yellow
1/2 cup Flour - all purpose
1 tsp. Sugar
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Soda
1/2 cup Buttermilk
1 large Egg
1 dollop Mayonnaise - 2 tbsps?
Bacon Drippings

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease iron skillet with bacon drippings & place in oven to warm.

Mix & add enough water to make cornbread mixture the texture of cake dough. Then pour cornbread mix into heated iron skillet & bake @ 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean in center of bread.

We used to have cornbread with milk - sweetmilk or buttermilk - for "Supper" after having our big meal "Dinner" at noon.
