3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
pinch of salt
egg whites from 2 large eggs
1/4 c. cold water
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, cream of tartar, egg whites and water in a large double boiler. Set over simmering (not boiling) water. Beat with a rotary beater or electric mixer until frosting stands in peaks - - approximately 5-7 minutes. Remove from the water and continue beating a few more minutes to stiffen. Beat in vanilla. Makes 4 cups.
