1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
6 oz chocolate chips
1/2 cup nut pieces (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in creamed mixture blending well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 360 for 9-10 minutes. Don't overbake.
