2/3 cup soft shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
6 oz semisweet chocolate chip

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla thouroughly. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients in with the wet ingredients. Mix well. Add chocolate chips. Out of a teaspoonful amount of dough roll into a ball (this gets out all of the air bubbles and makes a prettier cookie) and place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 F for 8 to 10 minutes and delicately browned. Cookies should still be soft; cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
