1 egg
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp melted butter
1/2 cup raisins (or craisins)
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg with molasses and milk. Add melted butter and raisins. Mix soda with flour and add to mixture. Stir until smooth, then add vanilla. Turn into greased mold and steam for 1 hour. Serve with whipped cream flavored with vanilla or hard sauce. (See Chantilly Cream recipe.)

We love molasses in Texas and keep it handy for biscuits or pancakes. This is a very rich bread pudding type of dessert where the molasses is the star, not the after thought!
