2 cups flour, sifted
3 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp cold shortening (Crisco)
1 tbsp grated orange "zest" ( rind)
3/4 cup milk
1 box sugar cubes
Juice of 2 oranges
Confectioner's sugar (optional)

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and cut in shortening with fork to make pea-size dough pieces. Add orange rind and milk and stir. Knead lightly for a few seconds on lightly floured surface. Roll out to 1/2" thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Put biscuits together in pairs with one cube of sugar, well-moistened in orange juice, spread evenly between. Place on greased baking sheet. Spread powdered sugar moistened in orange juice over the tops and bake for 15 minutes at 450. Dust generously with more powdered sugar while still warm.
