5 tbsp. butter or margarine
2 onions, chopped
4 tbsp. flour
4 cups milk
3 cups chicken broth
4 cups cooked and chopped broccoli
8 slices American cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter. Cook onions in butter until soft.

Add flour, stir until smooth. Pour in milk and chicken broth and stir until smooth.

Add broccoli and cheese and stir over low to medium until cheese melts. Do not boil.
