3/4 cup milk
2 cups pumpkin
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/3 tsp nutmeg

Heat these items together and mix well. (add this hot mixture to the below ingredients)

5 egg yolks
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/3 cup cold water
5 egg whites
1 1/2 cup whipping cream
1/3 cup sugar
1 10-inch baked pie shell



Caramelized Almonds:
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
1. Add hot mixture to egg yolks
2. Stick into double boiler
3. Soften gelatin in cold water
4. Add to hot mixture. Stir until dissolved. Let cool.
5. Beat egg whites until stiff- not dry.
6. Fold into custard. Let cool.
7. Beat whipped cream. Add 1/3 cup sugar- fold it in. Fold that into pumpkin mixture. Chill until thick- then pour into baked pie shell. Refrigerate overnight best.
8. Stir sugar and almonds over heat until light caramel color. Spread on cookie sheet and bake. Sprinkle each piece with caramelized almonds. Dribble with butterscotch sauce. Top with whipped cream.
