5 c. white flour
1/4 c. lard (shortening)
3/8 c. (6 T.) white sugar
2 1/2 c. water
2 1/2 c. rye flour
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. dark syrup
1 cake yeast

Directions:
Directions:
Heat the lard (shortening), salt, sugar, syrup and 1 c. water. Let mixture cool and add to rest of water. Add flour and yeast. Let raise twice. Makes 3 loaves. Bake at 350 for 35 min.
