Cranberry Nut Bread Recipe

2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. margarine or shortening
1 c. raw cranberries, left whole
1/2 c. pecans or walnuts, coarsely chopped
1 tsp. grated orange peel
3/4 c. orange juice
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. salt

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Beat together peel, juice and egg. Add to dry ingredients, mixing just enough to moisten. Fold in cranberries and nuts. Turn into 1 large or 2 small greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for about 50 min.. Cool. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.
