"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Mom's Whole Wheat Bread, by Peggy Haynie, is from The Haynie Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
3 T yeast in 2 C warm water with spoonful of honey. Mix and let raise a few minutes. 2 C scalded milk or powdered milk. I always just use water. 4 C wheat flour 1/2 C honey 1/2 C oil 1 T salt
Mix for a couple minutes with wire beaters then add dough hook and continue to add enough white flour until the dough leaves the sides of the mixer (5 or 6 Cups). Divide into 4 or 5 loaf pans. Let raise half and hour then bake @ 350º for 20-25 min.
Recipe came from Lyla Thomas. Good basic wheat bread.
