3/4 cup crisco
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups oats
1 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
If desired add chopped nuts, raisins, chocolate chips, or coconut.

Preheat oven to 350---beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy.--Combine remaining ingredients; add to mixture;--Mix well--Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes
