4 c Blackberries ( can be 1/2 fresh, 1/2 frozen
1 1/4 c sugar
4 T cornstarch
2 T Blackberry Brandy (important)
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Set oven for 400
Make favorite double crust pie pastry
1.Puree 1/2 of Blackberries in a blender, then strain out seeds in a sieve, pour into a saucepan
whisk in sugar. Cook over medium heat until boiling, stirring constantly and scraping bottom of pan.
2. Mix cornstarch and brandy in a cup. When well mixed whisk into pan with puree stir until mixture returns to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in nutmeg and cinnamon. Consistency should be like a thin pudding. To correct add cornstarch and water mixed at a 2:1 ratio (don't add more brandy)
3. Place remainder of blackberries in bottom crust pie shell. Pour puree over berries. Cover with lattice top or solid sheet of dough with cutouts. 4.Dust top with sugar place on hot cookie sheet in oven, bake at 400 for 35 minutes or until crust is browned.

This pie is worth the extra effort. Try not to stray from recipe: less spices than more, same with brandy. Add lemon juice or butter if desired
