Sauce:
4 slices bacon, diced
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
4 Tbs. butter
2 jars dried beef, shredded
1/2 cup flour
1 quart milk

Egg Mixture:
1 cup evaporated milk
16 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
4 Tbs. butter

Sauce:
Saute bacon, drain grease except for 1/4 cup. Push bacon to side of pan.

Saute mushrooms in butter. Add dried beef. Sprinkle flour over beef, bacon and mushrooms.

Add milk; stir until thickened. Bring to a boil. Set aside.

Egg Mixture:
Stir evaporated milk into eggs, add salt and pepper. Soft scrambled eggs in butter.

Lightly butter a 3-quart oblong oven dish or large square casserole dish and layer the egg mixture followed by the sauce, ending with the sauce.

Bake at 350 for one hour.

I always print up this recipe whenever I serve it because everybody wants it. Originally came from Sally Maly, wife of my gynecologist, in 1969. You can almost hear your arteries bursting when you eat it.
