1 1/2 c. sugar
1 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt

2 eggs (beaten well)
1/2 c. oil
1 c. canned pumpkin
1/2 c. water

1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. chopped dates


Mix first 8 ingredients and then add next 4 ingredients.

Stir in 1/2 cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup chopped dates. (I use both.)

Pour into well greased loaf pan.

Bake at 350 for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Yield: 1 large or 2 small loaves
