2 cups dry bread cubes
4 cups milk, scalded
cup sugar
1 T. butter
tsp. salt
tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ginger
4 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
cup light raisins
cup drained pineapple


Custard Sauce:
1 cups milk
tsp. salt
4 egg yolks
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Soak bread in milk for 5 minutes. Pour over balance of ingredients; mix well. Pour mixture into a buttered 1- quart glass baking dish. Place in a pan of hot water. Bake in 350 oven for 1 hour, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with following custard sauce.

For custard sauce: Scald milk in top of double boiler. In a small bowl, beat together egg yolks, sugar, salt, and nutmeg. Gradually add to milk, stirring constantly until sauce thickens and forms a thin coating on a metal spoon. Remove from heat. Cool quickly. Stir in vanilla. Chill thoroughly. Serve on top of warm spiced bread pudding.
