1 chicken fryer, cut in pieces
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup flour
tsp salt and pepper
tsp. garlic powder
tsp thyme
tsp sage
1/8 tsp baking powder
cooking oil

Directions:
Directions:
Wash chicken and remove skin (optional). Place in a bowl or pan with buttermilk and let soak for about one hour. Pat chicken pieces dry with a paper towel. Combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, sage and thyme with the flour. Dip chicken into the flour mixture and fry in cast iron skillet or Dutch oven at medium heat until golden brown on all sides. Lower the heat and cook for about 20 minutes, until thoroughly cooked and juices run clear.

Drain on paper towels to get rid of excess grease. Serve with country mashed potatoes and canned green peas with pearl onions seasoned with butter, salt and cracked black pepper
