"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
1 large hen (or 2 fryers)
2 medium onions
#1/2 butter or margarine
2 small cans tomato sauce
1 can mushroom soup
8 oz. pkg. spaghetti noodles
1 (#2) can English peas
1/2 tsp. garlic powder (or 1-2 crushed clove/s)
# 1/2 grated cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the chicken ahead of time, cool, remove bones, and cut into bite sized pieces. Using the broth left from the chicken, cook the spaghetti noodles until al dente'. Drain the can of peas and set aside.
In pan on stove top over medium heat, melt the butter, and add the onions, stirring occasionally. Saute until translucent. Add tomato sauce and garlic, stir, and simmer 10 - 15min..Add the mushroom soup, stir and reduce heat to "simmer". When hot, fold in the cooked spaghetti noodles and the chicken. Simmer until hot, then "carefully" fold in the peas...simmer only until peas are heated through, stirring as little as possible! When ready to serve, add grated cheese to the top!
Option: Can make into a casserole dish after adding all of the ingredients. Bake until heated through This dish also freezes well (do not add cheese until just before serving).

Personal Notes:
This is my sister Martha's recipe and it's a great dish to make for a pot luck event. I like it, however, it's Tom's least favorite (politely said)!
