"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Mom's Meatloaf, by Lynn Roth, is from The Kadavy Family Cookbook ,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1/2 cup chopped onion 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 1 cup oats, quick or old-fashioned 1/4 cup ketchup 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1T mustard 1 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper 2 eggs, beaten.
Mix all ingredients Shape meat mixture In a 9x5 inch baking pan, Bake at 375° for 1 hour. Let meatloaf set for no less then ten minutes before removing from pan. Using 2 spatulas, carefully move meat loaf to a serving plate and slice. Serves 6 to 8.
I like making meat loaf the night before if possible so the flavors blend. I also like green pepper or a little hot peppers in mine.
