2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
Pinch of salt
4 cups diced pared apples
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup nuts
2 tsp soda

Sauce:
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup cream (half and half)
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 tbsp flour
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, oleo and eggs. Add apples and dry ingredients. Batter will be stiff. Spread in greased 9 x 13" pan. Bake at 350 for 35 - 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. To make sauce, mix and boil top 5 ingredients for 1 minute. Add vanilla. Serve warm over cake.
