1 3-oz pkg strawberry jello
1 cup boiling liquid
1 pt vanilla or strawberry ice cream
1 10-oz pkg strawberry halves
Baked pastry shell
Whipped cream

Directions:
Directions:
Thaw and drain strawberries. Combine juice with water to make 1 cup liquid. Dissolve jello in boiling liquid. Gradually add ice cream, stirring until melted. Chill until thickened, but not set. Fold in strawberries. Pour into baked pastry shell. Chill until firm. Garnish with whipped cream and additional fruit, if desired.

The note at the bottom of this recipe reads: "I used fresh strawberries (1 pt) which had been cleaned and allowed to set with approximately 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water to make their own juice instead of frozen berries and juice."
