4 T. margarine or butter, cut up
2 T. olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 large shallot, minced (about 1/4 c.)
1/2 c. dry white wine.
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
2 lb. mussels, scrubbed
2 dozen. littleneck clams, scrubbed
2/3 c. loosely packed fresh parsley leaves, coarsely chopped.
lemon and/or lime wedges.
French bread slices.

Directions:

Prepare outdoor grill for covered direct grilling over medium-high heat.
Place butter and oil in large disposable foil roasting pan (about 16" by 12 1/2").
Place pan on hot grill rack and heat until butter melts.
Remove pan from grill and add garlic, shallot, wine, and crushed pepper.
Stir to combine.
Add clams and mussels and spread out evenly and cover pan tightly with foil.
Return pan to grill and cook 8-10 minutes or until mussels and clams open.
Discard any mussels or clams that have not opened.
Sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon and lime slices and French bread.
