1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk
2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter or margarine in large saucepan. Blend in brown sugar and salt. Cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk, continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Blend in confectioners' sugar gradually. Add vanilla and mix well. Thin with small amount of cream if necessary. Frosts 8" or 9" layer cake; half recipe frosts top of loaf cake.
