1 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/4c. ground almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla.
Add flour and all but 1/3 c. almonds.
Divide dough into quarters. Roll out each quarter into a 30" rope and cut into 2" pieces. Roll each piece in reserved ground almonds to coat lightly. Curve into crescents and place on a baking sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes until bottoms are golden brown.
Ground walnuts may be substituted for ground almonds.
After baking and cooling, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
