6 Slices day-old bread
1 to 2 Cups chopped cooked vegetables
1/2 Cup (2oz) shredded cheddar cheese
6 Eggs, lightly beaten
1 Can (10 3/4 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup undiluted
1/2 Cup Milk
1 tsp. prepared mustard
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. basil leaves, crushed
3/4 tsp. pepper

Cut bread into 1/2 inch cubes. Sprinkle half the cubes into greased 8 inch square (or 2 qt. rectangular) baking dish. Sprinkle vegetables and cheese over cubes. Top with remaining cubes.
Blend together eggs, soup, milk and seasonings. Pour egg mixture over the bread-vegetable mixture. Cover. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. Bake in a preheated 350 oven until golden brown, about 50 minutes.
