1 1/2 c. walnuts-halves and pieces 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. water 1/2 T. grated orange rind 1/4 t. cinnamon 1/8 t. ground ginger 1/8 t. ground cloves
Combine all ingredients in a heavy skillet. Heat over medium temperature until liquid boils. Stir constantly until all liquids evaporate and nuts are coated with sugar. Spread on a nonstick cookie sheet, separating nuts. Allow to cool. When cooled, spiced nuts can be stored for 3 to 4 weeks in a cool dry place.
