1 c cake flour
1 t baking powder
6 eggs, separated
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 t almond extract
1/2 t vanilla
1/4 c boiling water
1/2 t cream of tartar
1/4 t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Sift the flour and baking powder together three times; set aside. Beat the egg yolks until thick and lemon-colored; gradually beat in the sugar. Add the extracts. Fold in the boiling water and flour mixture, alternately.

Beat the eggs whites, cream of tartar and salt together until stiff and shiny, but not dry. Carefully fold this into an ungreased 9" tube pan.

Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 and bake until delicate brown on top. Remove and invert the pan. Let stand one hour then loosen the cake from the pan.

Spread with frosting of choice and toasted coconut.
