Ingredients:
Sift:
3 C sifted flour
1 3/4 C sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Add:
2/3 C shortening
1 1/3 C milk
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
few drops of red food coloring

Directions:
Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add five unbeaten egg whites & beat for 2 minutes. Add 12 - 15 chopped maraschino cherries and 1/2 C chopped nuts. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake at 375 for 30-35 minutes.
