Directions:
~In a large bowl cream butter at medium speed of electric mixer for 3 minutes. Add one egg and gradually add sugar. When mixture is fluffy and creamy (after 4-5 minutes of beating) add remaining 4 eggs, one at a time. Beat well on high speed.
~Sift dry ingredients (including cocoa) into a separate bowl. On low speed, add flour mixture, approximately 1/4 c at a time, alternately with a small amount of milk. Add vanilla and beat well.
~Spoon batter into a greased and floured tube pan, whose bottom has been lined with wax paper. Place pan of warm water on upper oven shelf and place cake pan on lowest rack. Bake in preheated 325 oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until cake tests done. (Remove pan of water after 1 hour.)
~Cool in pan, on wire rack, for 15 minutes. Then run knife around sides of tube and turn out onto wire rack. Allow cake to cool completely on rack.
